A 30 - 60 - 90 is triangle is drawn with the small leg of 3 units. A perpendicular drawn on the large leg from a distance of 3 units from 30° angle. Find distance between the top of both perpendiculars.

Give this question a try then check your answer with a solution.

(Shortcut Image Solution with Calculations is given below in this post)

Step 1:
Give names to all vertices.

Step 2:
Observe triangle AEF,
Angle A is 30° and AE = 3
 AF = 3 sec(30) = 2√3

Observe triangle ABC,
Angle A is 30° and BC = 3
 AC = 3 cosec(30) = 6

Step 3:
x = FC = AC - AF
x = 6 - 2√3
