Easy Geometry puzzle based on Equilateral triangles.

Two equilateral triangles are placed such that their bases are at the same level and their one edge is common. One line is drawn from the edge of the first triangle on the baseline and the top of another triangle. Find the ratio of two parts cut by side of the first triangle.

Solution 1:
Here two triangles formed are congruent. So line joining between their opposite edges will be perpendicular to the common side and cut in half. By this a = b and a/b = 1.

Solution 2:
In this diagram, triangles with side a,R and triangle with side (a + b), 2R are similar. So that ratio of their sides is also same. By this a = b and a/b = 1.

Solution 3:
In this figure, two triangles shaded in yellow are congruent SAS test. So that a and b are equal. By this a = b and a/b = 1.
